Great product, highly recommended! Plus some tips…,
I love this product! I started using it in August of ’09 and have repurchased it many times. I had never waxed any part of my body before using this and took a big risk going with a Brazilian my first time out. It can be messy, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be a pro in no time.
Here are some key tips based on my experience:
1) Make sure the wax is heated until it’s thin enough to get all the way down to the skin. If it’s too thick and sits on top of your hair, it’s going to hurt when you pull it off. Warning though, it will be hot when you apply it. Find the right temperature that is comfortable for you, but is thin enough to apply down to the skin level. For me personally, I like it very liquidy/thin.
2) Pull it off quickly! Don’t be tentative, if you go fast it won’t hurt at all.
3) Buy a mug warmer to keep it heated. I bought mine from Fry’s Electronics for about $10. This is a must in my opinion. Before I bought the warmer, I had to keep going back to my microwave to reheat the wax.
4) Make sure you use the oil and re-apply if you need to. Occasionally I’ll have to go over the same area more than once and it’s a good idea to re-apply oil there to make sure the wax doesn’t stick.
My method:
I sit on a towel and use a lighted mirror with magnification. This really helps to see what I’m doing. I also use a tweezer to get any stray hairs that may not have been picked up by the wax. I follow up with tea tree oil which I believe helps prevent ingrown hairs. I’ve heard that lotion/moisturizer with salicylic acid also prevents ingrown hairs, but I personally haven’t tried this yet.
Although I’m not a hairy person (I’m Asian) my hair seems to grow out fairly quickly. I hate stubble, so I end up waxing once every week. One container/tub lasts me about 5-6 waxes. I buy the 3-pack and I’m on the Amazon subscription plan so it’s even cheaper. This is the cheapest price around. Good luck!

|Best by far!,
I started out using Surgi-wax to do a Brazillian style wax. I got about 2 waxes out of it, and it did a great job, but I thought it was bit expensive considering shipping and handling. So, I bought Sally Hansen’s bikini wax kit at my local store. It’s soft wax…and was a painful nightmare! It was messy, and didn’t remove the hair efficiently, which meant redoing a lot of areas. The wax stuck to everything and was a HUGE mess! I quit half way thru and just shaved. Plus, I was left with swollen, red welts for a week. THUS, I HIGHLY recommend Surgi-wax! It’s worth the money, and it works. The hard wax is so much easier to deal with. It takes out the hair in one yank, which means less pain. It gets 99% of the hair and leaves skin soft and smooth for at least 3 weeks (for me anyway). The wax stays pliable for about 10 minutes, and you do have to make repeat trips, but that is better than dealing with the insane stickiness of soft wax. The oil that comes with the kit is great to use before and after waxing. Once you’ve used hard wax you’ll never go back to soft waxing with cloth strips! Surgi-wax is a great product.

|Cheap and effective,
This stuff doesn’t completely remove every piece of hair but it’s cheap (compared to a $80 session at a salon) and does the job well. I highly recommend it! I found this way better than shaving since 1 day after shaving I’d get stubble and itch. YES the first few times are painful, but as your hair thins out from waxing, it shouldn’t be as painful after. Therefore, do this every month to prevent your hair from grown back thick. One complaint I have is that the microwave directions weren’t very accurate. They say to microwave the wax for no more than a minute but with my 1100 watt microwave, I had to microwave for more than 2 minutes before the wax was spreadable. I get 2 waxes out of one jar. This works well on armpits, too.
A few tips:
Definitely apply the oil before you wax. This is to make sure you pull on only the hair and not your skin since without oil the wax will stick to your skin.
Look away when you pull. This helped me to gather strength because if I look at it then I chicken out, and I end up tugging on the hair which makes it more painful.
For females, wax 2 weeks after you period. I heard this is when your skin is not so sensitive so it’s less painful.
